Raise your hand if you remember enjoying this movie for Halloween! 🙋
Katie at Never Not Reading has done something amazing and iconic! She has created a Hocus Pocus Book Tag for us Halloween lovers!! I am loving the tag and am so excited to share it with you all! Katie tagged me in her creation post, and Lillian at Lair of Books also tagged me! AND, Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile has done an amazing job at creating some cool graphics to go along with the tag. So, I am using Flavia’s graphics, as well as the awesome gifs Katie used in her post!
The Rules:
The rules are to have fun!! Share the love, and just remember to tag Katie, the creator, and Flavia, if you use her graphics. That’s it!
The Tag:
The No Ordinary Star trilogy by M.C. Frank is beautiful and immersive! It is the best trilogy that I have read this year.
The stepmother in Cinderella Necromancer was truly, and literally, evil!! We all know the stepmother in Cinderella was a witch, lol, but this stepmother takes it to a whole other level!
I would have to say Harry Potter. I think that book, and series, attracts everyone! It seems like a lot of people read it as kids. I have yet to read the series, but the kid in me is pushing me to remedy that soon!
Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger is a ridiculously good time! It is like combining Jackaby, My Lady Jane, Stalking Jack The Ripper, and The Dark Days Club! So silly and frivolous, but so fun to read!
I would have to stick Roseblood with this category. It had a lot of potential and there were certain scenes in the book that were attempts at being alluring and cool, but they, and the book, just failed and disappointed, in my opinion.
Three-Fingered Jack Davis by DJ Swykert is perfect for this category. This was a book I read as a request from the author and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. It was dark and gritty and really brought to light issues with crime and drug rings.
I’m going to post two series for this one. For a series that just won’t die, but should in my opinion, I choose Fifty Shades of Grey. It is something I will never read and I think has no appeal and I don’t understand why there is to be more!
A series that just won’t die (like Gooneys never say die!) because it will forever be in my heart, is the Six of Crows duology! Kaz and the gang need to come back in another book because I need more of them! They have yet to leave my mind!
I am definitely going with Svetlana from Revenant: Blood justice by Leslie Linder. This character was so ignorant when it came to falling in love with Elizabeth Bathory and being blind to her evil ways, and for suddenly deciding halfway through her vampire life that she wanted to be a lesbian ONLY because she was bored with men. WHAT?!
I would totally resurrect Goosebumps! I think we need an adult Goosebumps series! It was my favorite creepy series as a child and I would love to read them again!
I’m going with 27 Hours on this one. It could have been better, but I really enjoyed it and I don’t think it was nearly as awful as most people are making it out to be.
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco comes to mind. I know a lot more people are liking this book now, but I just feel like it greatly disappointed me and completely strayed away from the synopsis and what I feel that the author had in mind. The history and backstory practically took over the whole book and I got very little of the horror and the “Bone Witch” aspects I was looking for.
I think the only book I have read so far that has a character cameo from another book would be Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo with Genya and Zoya from Shadow and Bone.
I tag all my Halloween lovers out there! Go forth and have fun! Spread the love and the tag!

LOVE your answers! I would DIE if the resurrected Goosebumps for adults but in such a good way! LOL. I completely agree with Roseblood, my first DNF in a decade but i gave it my all til the 150 page mark. Lastly, YES! can we please resurrect the Six of Crows?!?! I had fun reading your answers 🙂

Old, cute Halloween movie about 3 witches who consume the life force of children to stay young and beautiful forever. They turn a young boy in to a cat during the salem witch trial days and run out of children to feed off and go into hibernation and are accidentally woken up in the 90’s. Iconic.

Yay! Thanks for doing the tag! I loved your Goonies reference. Another movie I always feel like I should be watching this time of year, even though it has nothing to do with Halloween…

This tag is the best! I love Hocus Pocus so much. I was actually just in a Halloween shop earlier today and fell in love with a shirt that had ‘Amuck, Amuck Amuck!’ on the front of it, lol. I love your answers, especially the Harry Potter series for Sarah Sanderson. That would have been my pick as well. 🙂
