I’ve got some big news to share!
The Calendar Girls Book Group is back! And, guess who is co-hosting it now? I am so excited to announce that myself, Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads, and Katie at Never Not Reading have teamed up to bring back something we both fell in love with over the last year!
For my long time followers, and my Calendar Girls friends, you all know how much I adored this monthly blog event, but, for my newer followers, or those who may have missed these monthly posts, let me tell you what the Calendar Girls is:
The Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event that was created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile. It was inspired by the 1961 classic song by Neil Sedaka and created to ignite fun bookish discussions among readers and bloggers.
So, just like the song, each month a new theme is chosen (participants will get to vote between two choices), and participating bloggers get to choose their favorite book within the theme, or the book they think best fits the theme, to talk about in a blog post on the first Monday of each month. The posts will be linked back to Katie and myself so we can make a master list of all participants so everyone can blog hop if they choose and find new books to discuss and add to their TBR’s. It is a great way to make new blog friends, as I have made several when Melanie and Flavia were hosting.
The other fun piece to The Calendar Girls group is the Twitter chat. On the 3rd Sunday of each month, at 8 p.m. EST, we will host a chat with hashtag #CGBChat, where everyone can participate and gif away. Katie and I will get the ball rolling by asking a question or two about the theme or the picks of the month to get everyone chatting. The hashtag will be used in all tweets, so you can see all the fun!
If this sounds like something you would love to participate in (and fyi, The Calendar Girls is just a title and is open to anyone) then let Katie or I know with a blog comment, Twitter DM, or email, and we will make sure you stay in the loop with everything!
The August theme will be: Best Novel Set in Summer!
Katie and I have decided to try to give more time to vote for the upcoming month’s theme, so we have created a google doc for your voting pleasure. Please let me know if you cannot access the form, and happy voting!
