Beauty Review: EVA NYC Rock a Wave Curl Cream

Hello Beauties!

Raise your hand if you have curly hair. I was not blessed with beautiful curls, so I always try to figure out ways to make my hair wavy or curly without using too much product, or heat. I usually resort to french braiding and ending up with frizzy waves. The product I am reviewing today came in my Sol Vox Box from Influenster, so I was excited to try it to see if it would help me achieve some better waves.

The Review:

I sometimes have a mild wave to my hair depending on how I let it dry. I did receive this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster and EVA NYC, so I am grateful for that, but I am a little unsure why I received it since I don’t have the curly/wavy hair option marked in my profile.

I decided to try the product out anyway, to see if it would help to create a wave in my hair. I applied it all over after my shower, and proceeded to “plop” my hair to see if I would achieve curls. What I achieved was kind of a mess, but that could be from the “plopping” itself. My hair looked and felt dry and frizzy and really did not seem to hold any type of wave or curl.

That evening, I french braided my hair and in the morning I was pleasantly surprised to find beautiful, non-frizzy waves. Normally when I french braid my hair, I take it out in the morning and it’s wavy, but still frizzy, and sometimes the waves are uneven. This product actually helped my waves form and kept them smooth looking, so I was impressed with that. I’d rate it 3.5 stars and would recommend those with curly hair try it at least once or twice because, given that I don’t have natural curls, I couldn’t get the complete affect from the product, but I was happy with my french braid waves.

    1. They really did. I wasn’t impressed with the mess from “plopping”, but honestly I don’t know if “plopping” works. My french braid waves looked so great though! I might see if someone I know wants to use the cream though because I do think it faded my hair a tiny bit, but I didn’t think I needed to speak on that since it didn’t claim to be color safe, lol.

      1. Well, there is no heat with “plopping”. It’s just plopping your head on to a t-shirt and letting your hair fall accordion style in it and wrapping it like a turban, and letting it dry inside, but there is no real way to control how those “curls” form, lol.
