The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag

Happy Monday Lovelies!

I hope you had a great weekend! Last night was our Calendar Girls CGBChat and it was so fun! Make sure you visit my Calendar Girls info page so you can see if you would like to join in on the fun we have with this monthly blog even that I am co-hosting! Today’s tag comes from Flavia @ Flavia the Bibliophile, and the very awesome tag image below was created by Maddie @ Munch Reviews, so take a look at both fabulous blogs and show them some love!

The Tag:

1. How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging since January 2017. It really does not feel like it’s been more than a year already!

2. At what point do you think you’ll stop blogging?

Hmm. Tough question. I don’t really know when I will stop. I guess when I get tired of reading books (as if!) or if I run out of things to say (I’m such a loud mouth!). I enjoy blogging and have found my rhythm again recently after starting a diet and exercise routine, so I don’t foresee a stop in the near future.

3. What is the best thing about blogging?

The best thing about blogging is the people! I have met tons of amazing bloggers, bookworms, friends, and I love chatting with each and every one of you!

4. What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

I would say the worst thing about blogging is feeling like you have to always stick to your schedule. I recently decided to not let myself stress out about that at all since I have taken on a new healthy lifestyle.

5. How long does it take you to make/find pictures to use?

It doesn’t really take me long to find pictures to use, but I am definitely not skilled in the making pictures department, so that takes me forever! You should totally look at Flavia’s blog because she is a whiz at making amazing graphics! I am trying to work on teaching myself so I can get faster with Photo Shop, lol.

6. Who is your book crush?

Oooh, very tough question. For a while it was Jace from The Mortal Instruments. Now it’s Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows!

7. What author would you like to have as a guest on your blog?

I would love to have Kerri Maniscalco as a guest on my blog! She is one of my favorite authors and I would love to have a fun Q & A session with her! She has such a wild imagination and huge talent in writing. She is also a very sweet person to interact with on social media!

8. What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

*gasp* Do you really want to know??? Usually PJ’s, lmao. Lately it’s been my workout clothes.

9. How long does it take you to prepare?

It really depends on the post. I do my best work last minute, so sometimes it doesn’t take me long at all, but I do take more time to prepare my Calendar Girls posts and my Faerie Tale Friday posts. Usually a day or two.

10. How do you feel about the book blogging community?

I LOVE IT! As I said above, I have made lots of friends and met some amazing people. I enjoy having bookish discussions and participating in read alongs and blog/book tags!

11. What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?

I think you should have fun and interact with others to be considered successful. A lot of people base their success off of followers, and that’s all well and good if you are attempting to request advanced reading copies of books, or trying to build an audience, but I think the real success comes out of the enjoyment and the community interaction!

  1. Glad to hear you’ve started a healthier, more stress-free lifestyle. I noticed that exercising more really helped me to de-stress, even when I didn’t feel like I needed to! I find it changes my whole outlook on life (:
    Great post!!

      1. You are one of the lucky ones. Usually when I don’t get an ARC and I see someone else did, they have more followers than me, and that’s all I can figure since I always see posts about how publicity agents go for higher follower counts first. But I haven’t really asked for any lately because I’ve been trying to catch back up on my blog routine anyway, lol. I took a lot of time off to work on an exercise routine, and I try not to sit in one place for more than an hour at a time.

      2. Oh yeah. I like NetGalley because of that reason. I meant more for physical ARC’s. Honestly, I think Edelweiss looks at follower count because I have only had 4 approvals in the same time frame that I’ve had 36 on NG. Still not too worried about it though, if I don’t get an ARC I just find a way to read the book once it’s released, lol.

      3. I’m the same way if I don’t get an ARC. And I haven’t had any luck with Edelweiss, I’ve requested a book on Edelweiss get declined, then request the same book on NetGalley and get approved.

    1. That sounds awesome! I am glad you were able to listen to that! It would be so awesome to have her! She always tries to make an effort to comment or like on social media and I know that’s gotta be tough with the amount of followers she has.

      1. I have a real admiration for authors who make an effort to comment or like. I can’t imagine how busy they are! It’s impressive when they make a point to do it. 😊
