The Review:

An Authentic Experience was definitely a unique read. Two parts punk rock, one part emotion, and one part teen angst. I couldn’t put it down!

I loved how it delved into the repercussions of divorce, and living in a dysfunctional family. I also loved how it showed that having a family member with a debilitating condition affects more than just that family member. This was a pretty deep story that touched on many issues.

Wittmann did a great job of highlighting issues with having an immature parent. She also really brought forward the importance of family, forgiveness, and love. This definitely could have been made in to a dramatic Lifetime movie.

I felt like the characters could have used a little more depth, though I did get attached to Silver still. Beyond that, and the fact that I abhorred Silver’s father up until the ending, I found this one to be very amusing. It had humor, drama, emotion, and a few heart pounding moments. It had depth and seemed to be written and researched well. It was definitely worth a read!
