It’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty review, hasn’t it? I am so sorry! Lol. We are long overdue for one, so here it is!
Today I’ll be reviewing the new Kat Von D Go Big or Go Home Mascara in the color Trooper. I was lucky enough to receive this complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster and Kat Von D.
Mascara is super important in a beauty routine because big, bold lashes, even without any other makeup, can make you feel sassy and beautiful. So, today I decided to just apply the mascara under my eyeglasses, sans any other makeup.
Kat Von D Go Big or Go Home Volumizing Mascara
Kat Von D Go Big or Go Home Mascara is an extreme volume vegan mascara, powered by plant-based fats. This long-wear mascara has a smooth texture that glides onto lashes for big, blown-out volume, delivering an eye-opening effect that lasts all day and actually doesn’t smudge or flake. In high-pigment “Trooper Black,” lashes stay saturated and true-black until you go home. Get a perfect application with the custom-designed Fluff Brush: Its wavy fiber bristles catch and coat each lash for fluffy full coverage. Formulated with a vegan blend of olive and sunflower oils (instead of beeswax which is commonly used in mascara), Kat Von D Go Big or Go Home has everything you want in your volumizing mascara…the only fluff is in our brush!
Vegan & Cruelty-Free
How to Use:
SWIRL BEFORE YOU SWIPE: Like with any new mascara, swirl the brush around inside the tube prior to application to make sure it’s nice and saturated with the mascara formula.
GRAB & WIGGLE: For love at 1st swipe, grab lashes at the lash roots and wiggle through the tips. Add more layers to turn up the volume.

First off I would like to point out that I love the packaging. The tube for the mascara is very sleek and eye catching. That being said, I wish the applicator wand was a little smaller, and was shaped differently. I guess I just have really small eyes, so application felt a touch messy.
I applied roughly 2-3 coats. I did see dramatic length and volume improvement after just 1 coat though. I loved how striking the mascara made my eyes look. I did feel like my lashes clumped together with more coats, and after the mascara dried, my lashes felt tacky and stuck together in some places, even after several hours of wear.
In thinking about how I was going to write my review, I had a lower rating in mind, due to the clumpiness and tackiness of the mascara after several coats, but then I looked at myself in the mirror. I love how my eyes look with this mascara on. Sure, they have the spidery effect up close, but this mascara brought drama to my bland eyes behind my eyeglasses. So, that helped my rating a bit.
I’d probably rate this mascara 4 stars. What I ‘d like to do is reapply it on another day with, either with a full glam look or by itself again, but locate my clean eyelash comb, and possibly buy a curler lol, and see if that helps make a difference with the clumps and tacky feeling. Because, let’s face it, most mascaras are going to clump after a few coats. What’s most important is the sassy, bold drama this mascara brought to my limp eyelashes!
So glad I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster and Kat Von D. I am looking forward to trying it with several makeup looks, and by itself again! Definitely gotta go big with it!
